Thamia Aquino

Aquamarine Recreational Center, Batangas

Thamia was not your typical debutante. She was shy and timid. Though when asked what motif she preferred for her party, she specified something heavenly or celestial.  The elegance that the night sky brings makes this theme a popular choice—staring at the vast darkness illuminated by a full moon and twinkling stars is, indeed, one moment of awesome  wonder that has inspired poets and artists for centuries.

All the paper elements of the party were highlighted with moody watercolor and served as background with gold-stamped streaks completing the design. The same background was used for the panel board display and photo wall in the reception area.

During cocktails, guests were treated to a grazing table filled with various cheeses, nuts, meats, crudites, fruits, and other finger food by Juan Carlo Catering. Chocolate kisses in blue and purple wrappers were generously placed on the cocktail tables. These cocktail tables were decorated with geometric shapes perched on blooms and placed on top of gold star-shaped ornaments.

Glass mirror tables were used in the dining hall.  A globe with quotes like “Dance with the Stars,” “Dine under the Stars,” and “Starry, Starry Night” were calligraphed on each globe which guests took home as souvenirs. Additional touches included blue and purple flowers in gold boxes, fairy lights,  and geometric charger plates used as risers. Napkins were tied with gold satin ribbons and accentuated with  monogrammed napkin rings.

Thamia was a picture of a  cool and self-assured young woman when she emerged in a canary yellow ball gown by Veluz Reyes. The gown was sprinkled  with streams of silver sequins, mimicking shooting stars.
