Emil & Teegee

OF SANDY TOES

Pangalusian Island, El Nido Resorts

Both Emil and Teegee were drawn to Pangalusian Island’s natural beauty and wanted to have a destination wedding there that doubled as an exciting trip for their 50 guests. The entire island was closed and made exclusive for their 3-day wedding getaway.

Their wedding theme revolved around using pastel colors which were evident from the invitations, the decorations, and even the wedding cake. The invitation suite featured pastel flowers rendered in watercolor. The printed texts on the main invitation, reception card, and the envelope formed a heart. Welcome baskets containing essentials such as sunscreen, antacids, and local treats were placed inside the guest rooms.

The morning of the wedding, there was a gale warning that prompted event stylist Teddy Manuel to move the outdoor ceremony from one area to another. After four failed attempts, the ceremony was finally set up in a grass-laden cove that was still adjacent to the sea–a request from the couple who resolutely wanted a beach wedding. Real Phalaenopsis or moth orchids were used to cover the canopy with the beach as backdrop. Arches of white orchids were placed along the aisle. Teegee was a vision of a relaxed and happy bride as she took her walk to the rock version of Canon in D Major.

All 50 guests had their photos taken right after the ceremony with the beach as background. Over cocktail drinks, the guests spent the twilight hours playing “I Spy” and taking random photos using Instax. As they prepared to enter the main dining hall, they were handed rolled cold towels for them to freshen up.

As soon as the guests settled down, the couple were introduced and then led to the cake table. The one-layer cake featured the couple’s 3D image done in fondant. Other sweets like cupcakes, cookies, and cake pops were placed around the cake table for the guests to pick up and enjoy.

A special “TAN-GO” game was conducted. It tested the knowledge of the guests about the newlyweds by identifying places flashed on the screen and which were significant to them, and by marking the correct answers on the “TAN-GO” card. Speeches from the families of the bride and the groom ensued. The program was capped with a heartfelt message from the couple.

Truly, it was one wedding getaway to remember.
