Dennis & Marian

A WEDDING GETAWAY

San Antonio de Padua and Antonio's

As resident doctors who want to get away occasionally from the busy life they live, Dennis and Marian thought it best to make their wedding as a mini vacation, and, at the same time, as a relaxing treat to their family and friends.

The couple confessed that they are “old” souls who knew that their celebration in Tagaytay should have a classic and elegant setting. Antonio’s was the unanimous choice for the reception venue because of its intimate surroundings and quintessential landscaped interiors, apart from its scrumptious food selection. The brick structure, art deco tiles, wood-panelled ceilings of San Antonio de Padua were the architectural elements that drew the couple to hold their church ceremony there.

Out of the usual, the couple had no single theme for color motifs. They both agreed to wear complementing colors instead. Dennis and his groomsmen were decked in midnight blue as well as the ninangs. Both dads wore dark grey suits. Brothers were in black suits with mix-matched shirts of printed yellow, forest green, and blue. The mother of the bride was in muted gold and Dennis’ mom in pina.  The designer put in delicate details like fine embellisments, embroidery, and applique. The   apparels of the bridesmaids and secondary sponsors were done by Rosenthal Tee who chose a mauve color and large bows at the back.

Designer Richie Ortega-Torres created the bridal gown, considered the Marian with its conservative style, had it with sleeves for the church ceremony, and a cape during the reception. The lace and embellishments were exquisite. The veil was traditional with the floral embroidery scattered all around the back—it was a floral applique flowing down the veil.

The couple planned the wedding to be a celebration of love not only between them, but also together with their closest friends and families. So, instead of sitting in a couple’s table, the newlyweds joined the company of some friends and cousins in a round table at the center of the main deck of the reception venue. To preserve the ambience and intimacy with their guests, TV screens were propped on to the walls to make sure that the guests on the second floor and the patio areas could see what was  happening. Antonio’s iconic mirrored walls blended seamlessly with all the screens and provided a perfect aid for the AVPs and same-day edits.

Dennis surprised Marian on the morning of their wedding with a pair of diamond and rose gold earrings that perfectly matched the couple’s wedding bands. In turn, Marian gave Dennis an i-Pad Pro, so useful in preparing for his specialty board exams.

During the ceremony, the band played the mass songs which both Dennis and Marian grew up listening to including a special song, “Panunumpa,” composed by their officiating priest, Fr. Jboy Gonzales.

Every little detail contributed to the beautiful memories the couple could treasure forever. The Wildflour’s strawberry shortcake for their wedding cake, the warm and cloudy afternoon, the raclette and ice cream stations, the cocktails prepared at the Cabana of Antonio’s where guests were treated to standards of various musical genres, bottles of scotch on all tables, the open bar, and the dancing and singing until the wee hours of the morning—all these were spontaneously happening during the wedding getaway just as the newlyweds wanted it to be. Truly, it was one grand treat for everyone.
